Election Monitoring

The League of Women Voters has a longstanding reputation as a firm champion of democracy, and has functioned historically as a resource for groups outside the governmental sphere seeking to ensure that their decision-making processes are fair and equitable.

The League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County is asked by local and national organizations to send representatives to oversee their elections, and make sure leaders are chosen as democratically and transparently as possible.

LWVS-KC often works with the Seattle Housing Authority to monitor resident council elections in SHA buildings all over the Seattle area.

Typically, the elections we monitor are small, and the time commitment required is only a couple of hours at a time. It's a great way to get involved in your community and meet your neighbors, represent the League and share its expertise. For most of us it's something a little different, and lots of fun!
