Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee is an advocacy committee that works to fulfill League's positions on equal rights, social policy, housing and justice at the local government level - in Seattle, Bellevue, the suburban cities and King County. We also follow issues at the state and national level by working with LWV of Washington and LWV of US.

Like committees in any volunteer organization, we follow the interests of our members. Current committee interests are voting rights, ending homelessness, full funding for social services, housing availability and affordability, and marriage equality. As we look to the 10-year plan to end homelessness, members are concerned about adequate funding, maintaining the current housing stock while adding permanent supportive housing, dealing with the impacts of institutional racism, privacy issues and building the community will to end homelessness.

We welcome new members who share our commitment to social and economic justice - on these or other issues.

The Social Justice Committee meets on the first Monday of each month, from September through June, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the League office.
